What is the Alternative Pathway For Part-Time/Exempt Employees (APPTE)?

This program creates an opportunity for current part-time and exempt City employees to obtain regular, full-time employment with the City of Los Angeles. The program is divided into two phases: 6-12 months of on-the-job training (Trainee phase), followed by a month probationary period (Assistant phase). After successful completion of the probation period, the individual may be eligible to transition into the targeted civil service classification.
